Circle C Farm One-stop harvesting, butchering planned for local farm, NBC 2 News

A Southwest Florida farm is making life easier for livestock owners by offering something no one else in our state does.

We spoke with the owners of Circle C Farm in Bonita Springs to find out why they say they will soon be able to produce a better quality meat with less of a hassle for local ranchers.

Lee County ranch owner Angela Kuckes is used to having to drive her cattle nearly two hours away for harvest.

"The time, the money, the energy, because sometimes you're at work on your day job and you might get the phone call, 'Hey your steer is ready to get picked up,' and then you've got to figure out what to do from there," Kuckes said.

Nicole Kozak with Circle C Farm is hoping to change that. She has a permit from the United States Department of Agriculture to grow, harvest, and butcher all types of livestock on her 130 acres in Felda.

Right now, Circle C can harvest their white meat like chicken and turkeys right onsite, but soon they'll be the only place in the Florida that can harvest red and white meat.

Kozak said her animals will never have to leave the farm, which "adds to the meat quality and the flavor because it's reducing the amount of stress and adrenaline and anxiety on the part of the animals because they're not being transported."

This also means local ranchers, like Kuckes, will be able to drop their livestock off at a local location for one-stop harvesting and custom butchering.

"It would be so much easier because I know that I can take it maybe the day ahead, that day, whatever and when it gets there, it's going to be handled with the same respect that I would handle it."
