Jamaican Hush Puppies
Makes 12 Hush Puppies
Total Time 20 minutes
3/4cup yellow cornmeal
Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°.
Stir together flour, cornmeal, sugar, allspice, salt, and baking soda.
Combine milk and vanilla; stir into flour mixture to form a thick batter. Using two spoons, drop batter into hot oil and fry, in two batches, turning each until golden, 3–4 minutes. Drain hush puppies on a paper-towel-lined plate and serve with honey.
