A Farmer's Guide to Regenerative Agriculture

A Farmer's Guide to Regenerative Agriculture

Farming with the Environment in Mind

Circle C Farm is a family-owned farm that specializes in all-natural, regenerative farming practices. This means that we allow our livestock to roam freely on our pastures, and use entirely natural practices to improve the health of the soil. Not only is this better for the environment, but it also results in higher-quality food. Here's a closer look at some of the things Circle C Farm does to farm in a regenerative and self-sustaining way.

Cover Cropping

Cover crops are plants that are grown for a specific purpose other than being harvested for food. They're often used to improve soil health by adding organic matter, preventing erosion, and controlling pests and diseases. Here at Circle C Farm, we use Florida's natural landscape to our advantage. With about 200 acres of pasture and an abundance of sunshine, we're able to produce a robust quantity of high-quality soil, which translates to incredible sod. Our grass is so lush and green that it's become a favorite among local landscaping crews. However, we carefully plan sod farming in order to ensure that the livestock have enough food sources too.  It is a balance and respect of and for nature.

Composting

Compost is decomposed organic matter that can be used as a fertilizer or soil amendment. It's an excellent way to add nutrients and improve the structure of your soil.

At Circle C Farm, we use composted chicken manure to fertilize our crops. This helps us naturally fertilize our pastures, so that the soil is getting the nutritional support it needs organically and without any use of chemicals on our farm, this way our plants, our soil thrive year round!

Livestock Rotation

Livestock rotation is the practice of moving our livestock from pasture to pasture using them to naturally fertilize, rototill and break up the ground as they eat the amazingly nutrient dense grasses as they move about.

We do this all year long. This helps prevent the depletion of the soil and reduces the risk of pests and diseases that would otherwise make our fields their home. At Circle C Farm, we rotate our livestock in a very unique way, this was recently showcased on this LIVE VIDEO with our friends from Heifer USA.

Support Local Farmers Who Practice Regenerative Agriculture

These are just a few of the ways we farm in a regenerative way here at Circle C Farm. By using cover crops, composting, and livestock rotation, we're able to remain respectful of both our livestock, the plants that we are going on farm and all while benefiting the environment in both the short and long term.

We believe that regeneration is key to sustainable agriculture, and we're happy to be able to share our products with you knowing that they were produced in a way that benefits the land, the animals and us.
