Chicharrones (Pork Rinds)

Chicharrones from Circle C Farm FL

These homemade chicharrones are so good and so very easy to make! I make this recipe whenever I get a craving for pork rinds.

INGREDIENTS

You'll only need three ingredients to make homemade pork rinds. The exact measurements are listed in the recipe card below. Here's an overview of what you'll need:

  • Raw pork skin from Circle C Farm
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt

INSTRUCTIONS

As I said previously, making chicharrones at home is not difficult. The step-by-step instructions are included in the recipe below. Begin by cutting the pork skin into bite-size pieces with a sharp knife. Trim any fatty layer from the skin if it has one. It's delicious!

Arrange the pieces of pork skin on a parchment-lined rimmed baking sheet, skin side up and fat side down. Spray them with olive oil and sprinkle them with kosher salt.

Use plenty of both oil and salt. I start with 1 teaspoon of kosher salt, but I've gone up to 2 teaspoons on occasion. The salt adds a lot to the taste of the chicharrones.

The pork skin should be baked at 325°F for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until golden and crisp. This may take anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours in your oven, depending on how hot it is there.
